Does Spotify allow private podcasts: the short answer
Spotify allows private podcasts through one route its help pages describe for a feed hosted elsewhere: Open Access, which lets a subscription platform connect a paid or private feed so subscribers can listen in Spotify. Transistor, Hello Audio, Supercast and Supporting Cast are on Spotify's list; Castos is not.
A feed is the web address a podcast app uses to find a show's episodes. Spotify's private RSS feed help page is for listeners of a paid podcast sold through Spotify, not for a company feed from another host. Spotify's help does not say whether its app accepts a private feed address pasted in by a listener.

Spotify's page on connecting a paid podcast lists the platforms that can use Open Access.
- Transistor: Open Access is on all plans, for private shows and not unlisted ones. Listeners need their own Spotify account, and removing someone locks the content in Spotify and every other app.
- Hello Audio: each listener needs a personal link, because the shared link does not work in Spotify. Hello Audio says the audio stays locked but the show's titles, description and notes are public.
- Supercast: Spotify listeners get no personalized episodes, and the premium feed also appears in Spotify's search results.
- Supporting Cast: its internal podcast page says employees can use existing podcast apps, including Apple and Spotify; it sells by demo with no public price.
Castos, Podbean, Buzzsprout and Libsyn do not appear on Spotify's list.
What Castos says about Spotify, and what its listeners use instead
Castos's private podcasting page states that Spotify does not support private feeds, and Spotify's help does not list Castos among the hosts that connect through Open Access. Castos's support article warns that Spotify will add a submitted show to the public directory, so never submit a private Castos feed to Spotify.
So staff on Castos listen in the Castos app from Growth, $49 a month, billed monthly, as read on October 18, 2026, or with a personal feed in Apple Podcasts, Overcast or Pocket Casts. The best private podcast app list sets them out.
Apps that play a private feed: Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts and Overcast
Each app documents its own step. In Apple Podcasts on iPhone, tap Follow a Show by URL, enter the feed address and tap Follow; Apple's guide says the address must be a valid podcast RSS feed. On a Mac, choose File, then Follow a Show by URL. Pocket Casts says to paste a private feed address into its search bar. Overcast takes a feed URL and keeps feeds it recognizes as private out of search.
Apple's page says a listener who unfollows a show can keep episodes already in the Library, and Castos says a downloaded episode cannot be retrieved from a phone.
Before you pick a host for Spotify listeners
Start with who must listen in Spotify. If staff or clients already use Apple Podcasts or another app, no Open Access host is needed, and Castos works with a personal feed. If they must use Spotify, price a host on Spotify's list: Castos vs Transistor and Castos vs Hello Audio compare two of them with Castos.
Spotify's page on subscribing to a paid show lists the United States among its listener countries. Spotify Subscriptions, its own paid-show feature, is separate and needs at least 2 published episodes and an audience of at least 100 Spotify users in the last 30 days.
Castos's 14-day trial starts with a card added at sign-up, which is not charged until the 14 days are up, and it includes private podcasting, so you can send a test episode to a personal feed in Apple Podcasts or Overcast.
