How to host a private podcast for business: the decisions
To host a private podcast for business, choose a host that gives each listener a personal feed you can revoke, set the show to private, keep it out of directories and public web players, and remove people when they leave. A feed is the address a podcast app reads for a show's episodes. Five decisions cover it:
- Pick the access method.
- Keep the show private.
- Move an existing show, if you have one.
- Set up admins and editors.
- Plan for people leaving.
Castos documents each of these in its help center. How to create an internal podcast covers the show itself.

- Personal feeds: each listener gets a feed address of their own, so one person can be cut off without touching the rest. Castos gives each private subscriber a unique feed that can be revoked at any time. Its shared private link cannot be revoked once it is shared: use individual feeds, not the shared link.
- An app: a host's own listening app; the Castos app, from Growth, follows the same subscriber list.
- Single sign-on: staff sign in with the company's own login instead of a separate password. On Castos it comes with Castos Premium, its contact-us tier; ask whether it covers listeners. Podbean Business lists SSO login, and Supporting Cast lists SSO integration.
A host that only keeps its feed out of directories leaves the address open: Buzzsprout's help says anyone with the feed address can download the episodes. Castos private podcast covers feeds, the app and caps.
Keep the show private: directories, web players and hybrid feeds
Check the visibility setting before the first episode goes up: Castos offers three visibility options, and public is the default. A private show has no working public RSS feed, and Castos says the show stays out of public directories such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Never submit a private feed to a directory: Castos's support article says some, Spotify among them, will add the show to the public directory.
Keep web players off public pages. On Castos the embeddable web player is off by default for private shows, and a player on a public page lets anyone listen. A hybrid show is one show with a public feed for everyone and private feeds for subscribers, with each episode set to an audience. On Podbean, a private channel cannot be changed back to public, so decide before you create it.
Move an existing show and set up admins
If the show already lives on another host, check what moves with it. Castos says importing is free on every plan and its team will help, though historical analytics do not move. Its migration guide starts at Imports, then Import A New Podcast, and covers a public RSS feed and a redirect, without mentioning private feeds. Keep the old hosting account active for at least 4 weeks after setting up the redirect.
Then decide who publishes and who keeps billing. On Castos, invited team members can publish and edit episodes and view listener analytics; billing and settings stay with the admin. Essentials allows just you, Growth up to 5 team members, Pro up to 10 and Castos Premium unlimited.
Plan for people leaving and for downloads
Before you commit to a host, check that it can cut off one person and leave everyone else listening. On Castos, open the subscriber menu and choose revoke access: Castos says that person's individual feed is revoked and their podcast app stops receiving episodes, though no Castos page read gives a time for that.
Revoking cannot pull back what a phone already holds: Castos says an episode downloaded onto a phone cannot be retrieved or deleted. Transistor, another host, goes further: its help center says there is essentially no way to make audio on the internet completely private.
As read on October 18, 2026, Castos Pro is $99 a month, billed monthly, and hosts a private show for up to 500 staff with a revocable feed each and the Castos app; its pricing grid lists a 100% uptime SLA guarantee from Pro. The internal podcast platform list sets it beside other hosts.
Castos lets a business host its private show free for 14 days, then charges the card it took at sign-up unless the trial is canceled.
