Supercast: a landing page, Stripe payments and feeds in one product

Supercast charges $0.59 a month per subscriber, and Stripe's fees come on top: 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction and 0.7% per recurring payment, per Supercast's pricing page. Its fee on one-time payments is 15% up to a maximum of $1.50 per payment, plus Stripe processing fees. You connect your own Stripe account and are paid directly with every transaction.

Supercast's help center says the $0.59 plan includes a landing page, and its sign-up page is where listeners subscribe. Usage alerts tell you if a subscriber shares a private feed. Connecting a membership system such as WooCommerce, MemberPress or Zapier is done under the Custom plan, which is contact-us pricing.

Castos: private feeds behind the checkout you already use

Castos links private subscribers to the tool that takes the payment: Stripe and Kit add and remove them natively, Zapier connects almost any other tool, and WordPress membership plugins sync through its free Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin. Its help center also has a MemberSpace guide. Castos says it takes no cut of subscriptions you sell, and Stripe's own processing fees still apply.

On Castos, paid feeds go through Stripe, Kit, Zapier or a membership tool. Castos's Stripe automation works with recurring products only and revokes access when a subscription ends. Castos Commerce is described as donations in its help center.

A hybrid show is one show with a public feed for everyone and private feeds for subscribers, included on every Castos plan with the same private-subscriber caps. Castos's coaches page says client access can be revoked the moment an engagement ends.

Buzzsprout Subscriptions and Hello Audio

On any paid Buzzsprout plan, Subscriptions puts chosen episodes or the whole show behind a subscription. Buzzsprout charges a fee on subscriber payments, with the rate on its Subscriptions page. Buzzsprout hosting is priced by upload hours: Audio is $18 a month, billed monthly, for up to 6 hours of uploads a month.

Hello Audio Starter is $17 a month, billed monthly, for one private feed with unlimited listeners. Payments run through Stripe Connect, and each listener opens a unique link in their own podcast player. Hello Audio's features page lists a landing page and checkout without another tool, and its pricing page does not state a fee on member payments.

Picking a membership platform by how you sell

  • No way to take payments yet: Supercast, with its landing page and your own Stripe account. Castos vs Supercast and Supercast alternatives compare the options.
  • Already selling through Stripe, Kit or a membership plugin: Castos, which adds and removes buyers from that tool without taking a cut.
  • A public show with paid extras: Buzzsprout Subscriptions.
  • One paid feed with unlimited listeners: Hello Audio Starter.

A creator testing Castos for a paid feed gets a 14-day trial, with the card taken at sign-up and charged when the trial is over. How to create a paid podcast walks through the parts.
